Mecca Hotel Alexandria is one of Alexandria's worst hotels. It's a 3-star property but visitors have rated it 2/10 — a clear "bad hotel" verdict.
- Rooms are very small and not clean. Don't be fooled by the photos — reality is very different. There are insects in both the rooms and the bathroom. Don't bother asking for hot water for a shower; there isn't any.
- There are chairs outside the hotel for guests to use, but don't be surprised when strangers walk up and sit right next to you.
- If your room is hot, that's no surprise either — the air conditioning doesn't work.
- Lots of guests complained about the high price for poor service. There's nothing here worth what you're paying.
- Balconies are right next to one another, so privacy is non-existent — the people on the next balcony feel like they're sitting with you.
- If you have a car, you can park it in the street — the hotel has no parking.
Visit Guide does not recommend this hotel — poor service, no privacy, dirty rooms and bathrooms, and high prices for service that's simply not worth it.

"The photos look much better than reality. About the only good thing I can say is the view from the small balcony, and that we didn't suffer from bedbugs — though there was a cockroach. The sheets looked clean but were full of holes, there's no shower curtain, the bathtub was covered in scum and there were dirty marks on the walls. Not clean. The lobby was acceptable, check-in and check-out staff were competent, the housekeeping ladies wore hijab but appeared completely unmotivated in their jobs. And while the view is nice, the proximity to the street makes it very noisy. Breakfast was okay. Unless your budget is rock-bottom I'll join the other reviewers who say: stay away from this hotel."
"Pros: the sea view is wonderful from most of the rooms, mid-range furniture, mid-range breakfast. Cons: – No hot water in my bathroom, and when I complained a staff member told me to let the water run for 10 minutes (how silly!) — and even then there was no hot water. – Very poor staff behaviour, including reception, food and beverage staff in the restaurant. – Privacy is a real issue: many other balconies in the hotel can see into your room and can see you from behind when you stand on the balcony. – My first Nescafé took 30 minutes to arrive. – The bathroom looks rusted. – When I asked the receptionist for a comment card, you'd think I'd asked for something from outer space. I regret paying for my stay at this hotel."
"The best things are the view and helpful staff, and that's about it. Old TV, small room, breakfast underwhelming but okay. The view and location were what I liked most. Good pick for people who just need a bed to sleep in and a bathroom to shower, and don't expect anything more."
